ELECTRONIC RESOURCES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

SIBL's Elizabeth and Felix Rohatyn Electronic Information Center (EIC) provides access to over 150 electronic information databases. These resources cover business, science, government, industry and statistical information which can be used to assist and provide information for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Many of these resources are available at SIBL onsite only. The following is a list of the business information resources available at SIBL. Be sure to see our Small Business Resource Center and to speak with a librarian at the McGraw Desk on the lower level of the library for assistance and information about resources available for Small Businesses.

Academic Search Premier
Provides full text for 4,000 scholarly publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies.

Advertising Red Books Online
Directory. Includes information necessary for thorough advertising research on agencies and advertisers. The Agency Database contains detailed profiles of nearly 13,500 U.S. and international advertising agencies, including accounts represented by each agency, fields of specialization, breakdown of gross billings by media, and contact information on agency personnel.

Better Business Bureau
Check reports on New York businesses and charities.

The interactive network of Bloomberg Financial Markets offers up-to-date pricing information, history, data, analytics, and multimedia news. Find pricing and yields for stocks, bonds, mutual funds, economic statistics of global markets.

Business & Company Resource Center
Includes company profiles, executives, mergers & acquisitions,ticker symbols,news & magazine articles, company histories and chronologies, financials, balance sheets, and more.

Business Monitor Online
Market research reports on 175 global markets and Industry reports on 14 major industry sectors. Multinational company profiles, macroeconomic data, country risk analysis, country forecasts, and country updates. Articles and analysis section includes : Fixed income, Equities, Currencies, Politics, Economics, Co & Industry.(selection varies depending on geography). Dun & Bradstreet's International Million Dollar Database
Provides information on over 1,600,000 international companies. Find specific companies, industries, and size new markets by using multiple selection criteria. Search or limit by SIC code, total employees, legal status, annual US sales dollar equivalent, and more, plus identify up to four (4) executives on the world's largest entities.

Dun & Bradstreet's Million Dollar Database
D&B Million Dollar Database provides information on over 1,500,000 US and Canadian leading public and private businesses. Company information includes industry information with up to 24 individual 8-digit SICs, size criteria (employees and annual sales), type of ownership, principal executives and biographies.

Economist Intelligence Unit
Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) includes Country Reports and Country Profile guides.

e-Marketer
Market research information related to e-business, online marketing and emerging technologies. eMarketer aggregates and analyzes e-business research from over 1,700 sources and brings it together in one place. Research is presented in analyst reports and an "eStat Database" feature which is a comprehensive compilation of up-to-date e-business and online marketing statistics.

Emerging Markets - Internet Securities
Full-text articles, news, company, industry and market information for emerging market countries around the world.

Euromonitor (Now Passport)
Market intelligence on industries, countries and consumers. Includes integrated access to statistics, market analysis, and commentary on emerging trends. Please Note conditions of access to this service: Euromonitor is provided at NYPL for personal research or private study only, and cannot be sold or re-distributed to third parties. Library users may browse, search the service and display Intelligence on screen, and may print out no more than up twenty pages or equivalent of information per session. MasterFILE Premier (EBSCO)

Morningstar Library Edition
Access Morningstar financial reports, screening, analyst reports and porfolio screening. Use the Help & Education link to access information about this database and online course modules on investing.

Nelson's Marketplace
Includes three directories: Nelson's Directory of Investment Managers which provides profiles of 2,000 institutional money managers and their 8,000 investment products. Company profiles may be saved individually in PDF format, printed, or saved to disk or USB flash drive. Also includes Nelson's Directory of Plan Sponsors and Nelson's Directory of Pension Fund Consultants- This database is not on all networked computers. Small Business Resource Center
Covers major areas of starting and operating a business, including sample business plans, how-to articles, overviews, and directories.

SourceOECD

Comprehensive database of media and marketing information. Standard and Poor's Net Advantage

STAT-USA/Internet
International trade and export information from the U.S. Department of Commerce including the National Trade Databank (NTDB), Foreign Traders index, and market research reports by product and country. Other national economic statistics too.

TableBase
TableBase is a database comprised of tabular information of a strategic nature. The tables provide information such as: market share, market size, capacity, production, imports, exports, sales, product and brand rankings, forecasts, healthcare statistics and demographics. Tables are drawn from the more than 1000 sources that go into the Business & Industry database and from statistical annuals, brokerage reports, trade association reports, and governmental reports.

U.S. Census
Provides in-depth U.S. census data.

United States Exports History: Historical Summary
U.S. Bureau of the Census annual summaries of export shipments from 1991-1995.

United States Exports of Merchandise
