William Barclay Parsons and the NYC Subway

As Chief Engineer of the Rapid Transit Commission, General William Parsons was the guiding force behind the design and construction of the Interborough Rapid Transit system, which was completed in 1904. The following books, periodical indexes, and web sites point to more information at SIBL. In addition, the New York Public Library was also the recipient of the William Barclay Parsons Collection of transportation engineering donated by the Parsons' family in 1934.
