Please note that these electronic resources are only accessible from within the Humanities & Social Sciences Library.  You can find dedicated computers, displaying the Selected Electronic Resources screen, located in the Rose Main Reading Room, as well as in many of the divisions throughout the Library.

Contemporary Women's Issues

A primarily full-text database providing access to approximately 1,500 journals, newsletters, research reports, and fact sheets dealing with all aspects of women's issues worldwide. These include human rights, education, legal status, health, family life, reproductive rights, and the workplace.

NOEMA: The Collaborative Bibliography of Women in Philosophy

A growing bibliography of works by women in aesthetics, epistemology, ethics, logic, metaphysics, history of philosophy, as well as the philosophy of mind, science, art, and many other subjects. It is possible to browse by name and to search by author, subject, and keyword.

North American Women’s Letters and Diaries, Colonial – 1950

The collection includes a comprehensive bibliography of women's diaries and letters with approximately 230 new authors and 22,000 additional pages of material. It lists over 2,000 published and unpublished items from a variety of sources, including online resources and microform. Memoirs and autobiographical material have been excluded unless they has particular value to the work as a whole. Diaries that began before 1950 are complete, but diaries after 1950 are excluded.

Social Sciences Index

Social Sciences Index indexes over 400 periodicals published worldwide in the fields of anthropology, economics, international relations, political science, women's studies, and other social sciences.

Victorian Women Writers Project

The Victorian Women Writers Project is working to create a full-text library of works by British women writers of the nineteenth century. Types of works included are anthologies, novels, political pamphlets, and volumes of poetry and verse drama.

Canadian feminist periodical index, 1972-1985,  (Toronto, Ont.: Canadian Women’s Indexing Group, 1991),  JFF 92-2151.  Text in English and French.

Chicana studies index: twenty years of gender research, 1971-1991,  (Berkeley, CA: Chicano Studies Library Publications Unit, University of California at Berkeley, 1992),  *RS-SNB 93-9897.  Subject, author, and title indexes to 1,150 articles, books, theses, and reports on the Chicana experience.

Doughan, David,  Feminist periodicals, 1855-1984; an annotated critical bibliography of British, Irish, commonwealth and international titles,  (Brighton, Sussex: Harvester, 1987),  *R-*D 88-737. A chronological listing of almost 1,000 feminist periodicals.  Good source for research on the British women's movement.

Fischer, Gayle VOL.,  Journal of women’s history guide to periodical literature, (Bloomington, IN: Indiana University Press, 1992),  *RS-SNB 92-5028.  Compiled by the staff of Journal of women’s history, this source contains international listings on women from a variety of journals.

Garber, Linda,  Lesbian sources: a bibliography of periodical articles, 1970-1990,  (New York: Garland, 1993),  *RS-SNB 93-2853.  Indexes U.S. and foreign journals and international archives of lesbian materials.

Hady, Maureen E.,  Women's periodicals and newspapers from the 18th century to 1981: a union list of the holdings of Madison, Wisconsin, libraries,  (Boston: G.K. Hall, 1982),  *R-*D 83-1403. An invaluable tool for research in women's periodicals, listing and describing over 1,400 titles.

Humphreys, Nancy K.,  American women's magazines: an annotated historical guide,  (New York: Garland, 1989),  *RS-*DA 89-2147.  A list of writings about American women's magazines, newspapers, and newsletters; not a bibliography of women's magazines.
